The real KNM Fridtjof Nansen frigate is currently busy protecting merchant shipping against pirates off the coast of Somalia. Norwegian TV2 has its journalist on board to follow the developments, and TV2 asked Turbo Tape Games to help them with their Pirate Hunt website (Norwegian only). We developed the Google Maps solution, and allowed TV2 to borrow our 3D model of Fridtjof Nansen. The site is updated every day with news from the vessel and the pirate situation generally.
This, of course, has us musing how we could implement a pirate hunt scenario in Naval War. The answer is probably that this operation is more akin to a police operation than the major surface combattant warfare that Naval War: Arctic Circle is created to simulate, but it would be an interesting idea for a later revision.
Now, on to implementing a proper radar.
