In order to accomplish a mission a commander will need to understand when and how to use the numerous types of military structures and vessels, under their command. Each of these has one or more roles to play in the upcoming encounters. Knowing the capabilities of each of these assets will prove pivotal in securing victory.
Land based structures
These include airfields from where numerous types of aircraft can be employed for specific missions. Radar stations are the eyes and ears of any defensive position. They possess the ability to locate and identify enemy forces within range of their transmissions. Once located missile batteries provide the means to destroy any potential threat, before it poses a significant risk to any friendlies in range of it's weapons.
Naval Vessels
The game includes many types of naval vessel. From aircraft carriers to destroyers to smaller, faster, patrol craft. Surface combatants have a significant arsenal of weapons to target air, surface ships and often carry long-range land attack missiles as well. Non-combatants serve as potential targets for the player or A.I. commanders. These include tankers, transport ships as well as civilian fishing boats, which must be protected in order to achieve some objectives.
Submarines
Submarines are available for missions where stealth may be required. These submerged behemoths carry an array of destructive firepower that can annihilate a vast portion of any enemy fleet. Though they must be used carefully due to their limited range and slow speed.
Aircraft
Aircraft are perhaps the most versatile of the units being commanded. There are several types of aircraft, each one capable of carrying out any mission required by the situation a commander may be faced with. A variety of rotary and fixed wing craft are available, bristling with realistic weaponry capable of taking out every type of target within the game. These include: multi-role and air superiority fighters, bombers, naval patrol and reconnaissance aircraft and helicopters used primarily in an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) role.
